'Timeless Horizons' compiles songs from three elusive German psych-folk peaches self-released by Wolfgang Barthel, Matthias Böhm and Reinhold Bauer between 1984-1988. In the finest tradition of krautrock/kosmiche and psych-folk, the songs from 'Auf Der Suche' (1984), 'Zeitlos (1986), and 'New Horizons' (1988) look far beyond their native borders for inspiration, taking magick carpet raids on Oriental folk melodies, blues rock and new age ambience to paint a widescreen projection of oneiric proportions. Yet, rather than extended, sidelong and sidereal kosmich epics, they tend to more succinct and time-frames and ideas for the most, coming across as cute as the brothers Woo in the Balearic-tinged strings of 'Wellenreiter' or The Durutti Column's diaphanous atmospheres in 'Auf Der Suche', whereas the likes of 'Through Desert Plains' touches on darker instrumental themes perhaps compared with Sun City Girls. When they decide to take extended flight, the results are equally entrancing, as with the shower of chime trees and Göttsching-esque strings billowing into blown-out raga in the thirteen minute 'Drift Away / Into The Storm'.
